Youngkin proposes an end to the car tax and reduction of income tax

written by Jeanine Martin December 20, 2023

Governor Youngkin’s proposed two year budget includes an end to the hated car tax and a reduction of 12% in state income tax for all earners. The bad news is his budget will increase sales taxes from 4.3% to 5.2%.

More details here, here, and here.

Talk is cheap. Sales taxes aren’t.

Has there been a governor in the past 20 years who has not promised to repeal the car tax?

Just another nothingburger from a lame duck.

If he had proposed a car tax repeal in anticipation of this campaign, we would have won the House and senate. many of us campaigned on a car tax repeal or replacement, but if it was part of an overall }”Vote us Republicans in and weell do this,” like the famous Contract with America, hed have the votes to do it. I dont see the Democrats repealing the car tax nor reducing the income tax.
